Getting from Idea to Documentary

documentaries need story

I’m making a short documentary for my college doc course. My idea is to document my thought process while experimenting with sound design. The documentary would end with me having created a new and out-of-the-box piece of music.

Two questions:

  1. What makes a documentary valid? I’m afraid my idea could be perceived as a random youtube video about music production.

  2. Does my documentary need to have a message?

New Show: DOGS OF WAR debuts Veterans Day on A&E

Another new show that I’m very proud of, and another show with “dogs” in the title.  But “Dogs of War” actually has dogs in it.

Congrats to showrunner/EP Peter LoGreco and his team for a really great job.  This is a smart, emotional journey through the world of veterans with PTSD, and the service dogs who save their lives.

I’m a chef working on tour with major artists in the rock ‘n’ roll industry in Europe. Every day we get off a tour bus after an average of 6 hours sleep, unload the truck, build a kitchen inside a stadium, cook breakfast, lunch, dinner and after-show food for 200-odd crew and artists alike, break down and clean kitchen, push it back on the truck and drag our tired, adrenalized and ragged selves back to a coffin-sized bunk and sleep while the tour rolls into the next venue.
