Entertain or Die – My Talk at Gate 3.0

By Feb 18, 2013August 20th, 20202 Comments

In the video world, it’s “Entertain or die”– if your video’s not good, it’s gone.  If you don’t entertain the audience, they won’t watch.  And if they don’t watch, what’s the point of doing the video at all?

That was my message at Gate 3.0 a couple of weeks ago, and they’ve posted the video of that talk online (in fact they’ve posted all 16 hours of the conference on line, but my part was only 15 minutes.) Gate stands for “Global Alliance for Transformation of Entertainment” and yes, it is as new-agey as it sounds. But it was a great time, with a great group of people.  My talk tended toward the un-new-agey on a topic I hope you’ll enjoy.  Take a look:

That is awesome Steve! Every Video has personality .I don't know,Thin Cardboard on one extreme to jumping to earth from outer space at the other extreme? When you mentioned you were going to tell a story my ears perked up..and I pulled up a chair.. I have seen those 'corporate videos' on proper conduct…I do not want to be the survellance video director either. OH boy yawn ville and I work for a company that is a major broadcaster..yet it proves that just because of that entertain may not be in the root process of Entertain or die..Thanks a bunch..I am pumped now..

Great and very timely talk. I was sort of expecting a reference to the ridiculously successful "Gangnam Style' video.

That aside, sounds like you need to write your next book: How to give a talk that doesn't suck.
